Friends Lake Inn
A 3-minute walk from Friends Lake in the Adirondack Mountains, this warm, adults-only inn is stylish and rustic-chic.
Rooms are TV-free, and feature wood-paneled walls and ceilings; some add wood-burning fireplaces, window seats and/or cafe tables. Plush upgraded rooms have sitting rooms, whirlpool tubs, 4-poster beds, lake views and/or balconies or decks.
Made-to-order breakfast is served in a sunroom that has lake views. There's a refined restaurant, an airy pub, a billiard room, and outdoor seating with lake views. Minimum-stay rules may apply.

The Sagamore
Built in 1883, this refined resort is set on a private island on Lake George.
